Book of Hours

This binding is a case binding covered with silk bookcloth, with a miniature painting done in watercolor on vellum inset into cover under domed glass. It features a removable stumpwork butterfly worked in cotton embroidery thread on organza that is attached to the cover via a magnet embedded in front board. It has single core headbands worked in silk with a single bead at the front, and silk ribbon place markers. The text is a facsimile of The Book of Hours of Englebert of Nassau. The design is inspired by the Cosway style bindings of the 19th Century.
